Privacy Policy

EFFECTIVE DATE 19 OCTOBER 2026

This policy covers the Recall app for iPhone and the website get-recall.app. The short version: your library is yours. We don’t collect it, we can’t see it, and we don’t track you. Contact support@get-recall.app with privacy questions or requests.

The Recall app

Your library stays on your devices

Your quotes, books, notes and favorites are stored on your iPhone and synced through your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). We have no server and no access to that database. If iCloud is off, your library stays on that iPhone only. Apple’s privacy policy governs iCloud.

What we collect

Nothing. Recall has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it contains no third-party code that collects data about you.

Camera and images

When you scan a page, the text is recognized on your iPhone with Apple’s built-in frameworks. The photo is not uploaded or kept; only the text you choose to save becomes a quote.

Share Sheet, widget and Siri

Text or links you share to Recall, the home-screen widget, and Siri or Shortcuts actions all read and write your library on your device. When you use Siri, Apple processes your request under Apple’s own terms.

Readwise (optional)

If you import from Readwise, your Readwise access token is stored in your iPhone’s Keychain and sent only to readwise.io to download your highlights. To fill the token in for you, Recall may read your clipboard after you come back from readwise.io, and only if the clipboard has changed.

Purchases

Recall Pro is sold through Apple. Apple handles payment, and we never receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase with Apple on your device.

This website

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address with our database provider, Supabase, and use it only to tell you about Recall’s launch and invites. The site is hosted by Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views in aggregate without cookies. We don’t sell or share your email.

Email support

If you email Recall support, you share your email address and whatever you include, such as your message or screenshots. We use it only to answer you. You never need to send your library or Readwise token for support.

Children’s privacy

Recall is not directed at children under 13, and the app collects no personal data from anyone.

Your controls and deletion

  • Delete quotes in the app, or delete the app to remove local data.
  • Manage or delete the iCloud copy in iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud.
  • To leave the waitlist or ask about your data, email support@get-recall.app.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.

Policy changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new effective date. Material changes will be mentioned in the app or on this site. The Terms of Service cover your use of Recall and Recall Pro.
